AristoCAT Selected for State of Washington
vs U.S. Tobacco Companies, et. al.
You've read
the news about the State of Washington suing the U.S. Tobacco companies.
This precedent setting trial involved billions of dollars, and the
attorneys needed immediate access to testimony and daily, certified
copy. They turned to AristoCAT as the trial's CAT system.
Using computers
equipped with the Windows 98 operating system (the standard at that
time), seventeen attorneys located in the courtroom, as well as
in war-rooms, viewed the testimony via a combination of AristoCAT's
TotalView litigation support software, as well as LiveNote and CaseView.
A scopist edited and printed the testimony as the reporter wrote
it. Globals were passed back to the real-time program, so that the
attorneys didn't see the occasional untranslate a second time.
At the end of
the day, the transcript was proofread and the automatic indexing
program was run to produce a fully indexed transcript of witnesses
and exhibits, with page numbers. ASCII files were produced and condensed
transcripts printed. The certified transcript, ASCII files and word
index were handed to the attorneys by 6:00 p.m. the day of the trial.
This is a real-life
example of AristoCAT's power and capabilities at work. When the
best legal teams need the best software, they turn to us.
